Getting started
What A-Sync does, and the few things worth knowing before you begin.
A-Sync manages the whole life of an aircraft and its parts: what the fleet is, what is due on it, who will do the work, what the work consumed, who certified it, and what it cost. Everything is recorded once, in the place the work actually happens, and flows on from there.
What you can do here
The application is divided into modules, each covering one part of the operation. You will normally live in two or three of them.
| If you are a | You mostly work in |
|---|---|
| Planner | Planning, Execution, Compliance |
| Mechanic or inspector | Line Maintenance, Execution, Materials |
| Certifier | Execution, Shop, Records |
| Storekeeper | Materials, Procurement |
| Engineer (CAMO) | Compliance, Engineering, Fleet |
| Quality or safety officer | Quality, Training, Personnel |
| Commercial or finance | Billing, Leases, Procurement |
| Flight crew | Techlog |
Before you start
You need three things from whoever administers A-Sync at your organisation:
- The web address of your A-Sync workspace.
- An account, created for your email address.
- One or more roles, which decide what you can see and change.
Roles matter more than they might sound. A-Sync hides what you cannot use, so two people looking at the same screen may see different buttons - and a whole module may be missing from your sidebar. That is normal. See Roles and permissions for what each role covers.
